Background |
|
Chris Collier is the driving force behind this project. He is a young artist and photographer based in the west of Wales, spurred on by his profound interest in the legendary history of Wales and his love of the country’s beautiful landscape. As an artist his work deals with a diverse and contemporary approach to the history, mythology and traditions of our past. Its philosophy is that of using artistic practice as a vehicle for the re-engagement with our heritage: a reinterpretation of such subject matter through a contemporary context and yet also an act of preservation. He seeks to breathe new creative life into ancient stories, traditions and beliefs in order to shield them against extinction beneath the casual apathy of much modern mass culture. He attempts this by subverting the very language and iconography of this mass culture into the actual physical and theoretical tool of preservation itself.
